StreetXo, Madrid.

There aren't many places I'd queue up for but we will make an exception for StreetXo in Madrid. We arrive at 12.45 on the top floor of El Corte Inglés (Calle Serrano 52) on Sunday lunchtime and the line is already 50 long. They started letting people at 1.30. We are waiting for more than an hour. When you are let in through the doors, it's absolutely insane. The sheer mad frenzied energy of service in full swing. It's at least three times larger than the old site we visited on our previous trip (see our earlier review here). It's a large open kitchen area with seats all the way round the counter and through glass doors a long outside eating area (where we were shown to).
Our waitress advised us to get three courses to start but I've not come all this way to just order a few dishes! I order 9 plates straight away, still fearful I'd miss something out!
Steamed Sandwich Club. Ricota. Huevo Fried Quails Egg. €11.
Pekingese Dumpling, crunchy Pig's Ear & Strawberry Hoisin Sauce. €12.50.
Smokey Razor Clams Olive Oil & Charcoal. Shizo Ponsu Sauce with Coconut Cream. €8.
"Singapore Laksa" with Carabineros cooked over Japanese Robata grill. Coconut cream. Shiitake Mushrooms & Pasta Shells. €20.
Skate Ribs and Banana Leaves and Indonesian Sambal Sauce over Shell Fish Paste. Creamy Spicy Salmorejo. Prawn Crackers. €13.
"Curry Pesto Chlorophyll" with potatoes, frogs legs, rice noodles & nasturtium leaves €17.
Korean Lasagna Old Galician Beef. Wontons with Shiitake Mushrooms, Spicy Marinated Tomatoes. Goats Milk. Cardamom. Bechamel. €15.
The food is as good as I remembered it, they just nail it every single time. We love the bold and intense, spicy flavours. The only thing I regret are the dishes I didn't get to taste. We cannot wait for the much delayed StreetXo London to open, hopefully this Summer, then I'll work my way through the rest of the menu.
