The Railway Cafe, Alderley Edge.

I got a sneak preview of the new Mughli run pop-up in Alderley Edge yesterday within my sometime freelance job as a food photographer (available for restaurants, weddings, bar mitzvahs etc). If you're expecting a variation of what they already do in Rusholme and Knutsford, you'd be mistaken. It is in fact an all day bistro and bar similar to what the family already successfully run in Soho; Damson & Co.
The Railway Café is a 12 week collaboration between Haz (and the Mughli team) and head chef David Gale. He comes with an impressive pedigree, including Chez Nico, Soho House in New York and more recently The Lawn Club in Spinningfields.
As I was driving I didn't get a taste of the cocktails or the gin bar but I did get a little sample of some of the small dishes I was photographing.
Poached Egg, Bombay Potato, Saffron, Hollandaise (£8.50).
Chilli Cheese Toast (£5.50).
*Tuna Tartar, Coconut, Chilli Cucumber, Wanton Crisps (£8.50).
*Lamb Lollipops, chickpea purée, pomegranate seeds (£11.50).
Tamarind Duck, onion, peppers, papadum wafers (£8.50).
As ever with these previews, this isn't a proper review as such but just between ourselves, my favourite dishes are indicated with a *
