Top 10 Chorlton Bars.

Chorlton has well over 20 pubs and bars serving real ale. I can't imagine many other places in Britain that have so much choice in such a small area, only a mile or two across. Especially when many pubs up and down the country are closing down at an alarming rate. It really is a drinking/pub culture around here but with few good restaurants for some unknown reason. Still, we must be thankful for what we've got. Here are my personal favourite ten bars, all selling a great choice of proper beer, (in order of proximity to my house).
Parlour. 60 Beech Rd.
They've got shabby chic down to a tee, they make fine burgers, do a very decent (and popular) Sunday lunch, and their beer choice is pretty damn good too.
Electrik Bar. 559a Wilbraham Road.
A really superb selection of real ale, including their own brand beer, excellent cocktails, (they make a mean mojito) plus burgers and dogs. Oh, and the best jukebox in town.
The Nook & Cranny. 535 Wilbraham Rd.
Less of a real ale choice, this little bar makes up for it with the best pizzas in Chorlton plus some cracking DJ's.
The Bar. 533 Wilbraham Rd.
One of the first and always busy, a baffling selection of real ale, the original bar set the standard and is still a very safe bet.
Oddest Bar. 414-416 Wilbraham Rd.
This place was a really welcome addition to Chorlton, much better than Polar Bar which it replaced, it adds something new to the mix.
The Beagle. 458 Barlow Moor Rd.
The first of the new breed of bars, (which the Font followed). They're slightly more expensive but always with an interesting range of craft beers.
The Marble Beer House. 57 Manchester Rd.
Another old favourite of mine, it always has its regulars propping up the bar, drinking a wide range of their own Marble beers and a few guests at reasonable prices.
Pi. 99 Manchester Rd. They've found an excellent formula and stuck to it, fine pies from Pieminister and yet more lovely real ale. Plus a huge selection of bottled beer from all over the world.
Pie & Ale, killer combo.
The Font. 115 -117 Manchester Road.
It seems there was still room for even more craft beer choices on the Manchester road corridor. Even with such competition, this bar has a very impressive selection.
The Hillary Step. 199 Upper Chorlton Rd.
Not actually in Chorlton but neighbouring Whalley range, I had to include it here, as it's yet another great outlet for real ale.
Lovely beer.
