Serendipitea Chorlton.

I was sitting idly outside Epicerie Ludo on Beech road waiting for Mrs Bacon who'd gone in there for some Époisses to complete our cheese board. I happened to look across the street. What the hell is that? I thought. I went over to investigate. It was a brand new café open that I knew absolutely nothing about. Not much gets past me, I'm on Beech road every day keeping my eyes peeled, yet I'd not heard anything about this place, and not only was it up and running, it looked completely finished. It turned out that it was the first day officially open, so I went inside to investigate. Sam the dog was welcomed inside too, a real bonus for us; it's fully dog friendly. It's really pretty inside, the decoration is spot on, lovely little details, the vintage tea chests, flowers and antique tea cups; I was really impressed already. I called Mrs B; "come over to Truth, the hairdressers, I'm next door!" This completely confused her, I could see her wandering about outside for a bit not looking my way at all as I wildly waved from inside. She looked everywhere but where I was. This happens a lot with us.
I finally managed to get her attention, and we set to order some tea and cake. There's a huge range of teas, I'm no expert but it looks pretty extensive to me. I can claim to be an expert cake eater though. I sent Mrs Bacon up, she can sniff out a moist cake with great skill. She chose very well; a lovely banana loaf, and it was well moist and tasty.
Love the little details, such as the old school little milk bottle.
It was quite entertaining sat in the window looking at surprised passers-by taking a good nosy inside.
Yes, we liked Serendipitea very much; nice tea and cake, decorated with attention to detail and friendly staff; a very welcome addition to Beech road, and one that seems to have arrived fully formed and in perfect working order from day one.
Sammy loved Serendipitea too.

  2. Completely agree with your review. Really cute place, lovely decor, good service & lovely cakes! In fact in the ever competitive South Manchester cakes/baked goods establishments I'd say Serendipitea really is up there. Their deluxe hot chocolate is too notch, may just edge the one at the Spoon Inn! And dog friendly to boot! Ticks all my boxes :-)
